Mara Bouvier
General Manager

Mara Bouvier, General Manager at Primland, has been a boutique, luxury hotelier and restaurateur for more than 15 years, working in world class destinations like Jumby Bay in Antigua; Strawberry Hill in Jamaica; and The Palms in Turks and Caicos.

She began her career in hospitality as a Sommelier at The American Restaurant, a AAA Four Diamond restaurant in Kansas City where she had the opportunity to design food and wine pairings with such great chefs as Rick Bayless, Emeril Lagasse and Jean-Louis Palladin. Mara completed the certification exam for the Court of Master Sommeliers as a protégé of Doug Frost, M.S., M.W.

Growing her passion for food and wine, Mara continued her career at Jumby Bay Island Resort in Antigua in 1993 as Director of Restaurants. After nearly five years at Jumby Bay, Mara accepted a position as the General Manager of a boutique hotel in Santa Barbara, the Santa Barbara Inn. She was then promoted to the Crowne Plaza in downtown San Jose and followed this challenge by returning to a boutique destination, The Inn at Morro Bay, on the central coast of California, in 2000.

She worked at Strawberry Hills in Jamaica in 2002 as General Manager and then moved to The Palms in Turks and Caicos two years later.

In July, 2005, Mara was hired as the General Manager of the Tidewater Inn on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. When it was sold to a company who brought in their own management team, she joined the Chatham Bars Inn in Cape Cod, Massachusetts in September, 2006, as Food and Beverage Director.

Mara graduated from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, MO, with a B.A. in Philosophy. Fluent in French, she is married with one daughter and enjoys family, yoga, natural beauty and art.
