Meadows of Dan, VA – The Spa at Primland brings the great outdoors indoors in a calm, tranquil and uplifting space, inspired by American Indians, where guests can go to relax, recharge and rejuvenate in harmony with nature surrounded by sounds that soothe the senses.
Body, mind and soul can be uplifted through the native treatments, created from their beliefs and legends, which will revitalize guests using natural organic products (Naturopathica) as well as essential oils. Many of the materials used in the wellness process – wood, stone, marble – are also reflective of the locally sourced natural building materials that were carefully selected to provide an ambience in keeping with the design of The Lodge.
“We wanted to take the spa experience to new heights,” says Garance Primat, one of the Primat family owners, “and give our guests a feeling that will linger as long their memories of this very special mountain getaway.”
“To do this we have taken a European approach and blended it with the holistic remedies used by the Indians of America to be able to offer a variety of massages that will renew the body amid sounds and settings that will renew the spirit.”
The largest of its kind in the U.S., the 8,134 square feet features:
Another unique aspect is Spa Horizon, the latest addition to the Clair Azur mosaic spas. With five places, two of which are couches, the ergonomic layout of the spa has been designed to offer the maximum comfort while guests can enjoy their massage to the fullest.
Completely tiled with Emaux de Briare mosaics, it comes with a set of air and multi-jet
outlets and is considered one of the most efficient spas of its type.
There will also be a children and early teen’s spa service offered to those under the age of 16, which can include treatments, birthday parties and best friend packages.
There will be between 40 to 50 treatment options and prices will range from 70 to 160. Customized day specials will be available from 330 to 430.
The seven spa staff, all hired locally, have been trained by Sylvie Keo, one of France’s top consultants who worked closely with Garance on its conception and creation.
Over many years some eight tribes have lived on the land now known as Primland. Although the Cherokee is the best known, there were also Iroquois, Monacan, Sepannee, Tutelo, Melungeon and Seura, all of whose habits have been assimilated in the spa philosophy.
The Indian theme has been adopted because they used color and directional placements in their own form of feng shui although an understanding of this art and mystic belief is only now becoming generally known.
The American Indian medicine wheel is a compass of life that connects the outside world to the personal world of heart, mind, body and spirit. The spa and treatments are intended to work in line with energies of nature, turning as do the seasons, in an ongoing cycle.
The turquoise stone is, to the American Indians, a piece of sky fallen on earth, building a link between the spiritual and earth energy. The Indians believe that the stone harmonizes the body, the skin and the spirit. Known as the eternal youth’s stone, its use regenerates the skin while harmonizing the body.
Turquoise has been used not just for the treatments but the color is predominant in the interior design of the spa (the frames, the towels and the tiles).
Primland welcomes and caters to all visitors: groups, corporate events, families, couples and individuals. Here, in the spa, guests can be pampered with a variety of treatments designed to bring the spark back into life.
Nature is a wondrous healer. The Spa At Primland embraces the spirit of the rocks, the rivers, the trees, the animals, the birds, the sun and the sky.
