Meadows of Dan
The town of Meadows of Dan, Virginia is a wonderful small community at the edge of the Blue Ridge Plateau that boasts friendly locals, eclectic shopping and easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is located a few miles to the west off Route 58 once you leave our Blue Ridge Parkway resort .

Stuart, Virginia
Stuart, Virginia, named after civil war hero J.E.B. Stuart who was born and lived here in Patrick County, can be reached by turning right from Busted Rock Road after leaving the North Gate and travelling about 10 miles east on Route 58. Once you pass the scenic Lover’s Leap area, you’ll wind down the mountain until you see signs directing you to Stuart.

In Stuart you’ll find the antebellum Patrick County Courthouse, registered as a National Historic Landmark, the Virginia Motorsports Museum and the fully restored Star Theatre, now offering classic films and theatrical presentations.

Mount Airy, North Carolina
Mount Airy, North Carolina, a 20-minute drive from Primland’s South Gate, is the birthplace of Andy Griffith and home to all things “Mayberry.”

On the way to Mt. Airy through Ararat is Laurel Hill, the actual birthplace of Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart and now home to a Civil War encampment and venue for an annual Civil War battle reenactment.

Reynolds Homestead
The nearby Reynolds Homestead, in Critz, Virginia was the birthplace of tobacco pioneer R. J. Reynolds. The estate has been fully restored and is open for tours, including the old home, grounds, family and slave cemeteries and continuing education center.

Villa Appalaccia Winery
Villa Appalaccia Winery is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway about ten miles from our Blue Ridge Mountain vacation resort. The Italianate Villa has stunning views and a relaxed setting, offering its award winning wines to guests who enjoy its weekend tastings. Villa Appalaccia offers predominantly Italian grape varietals. Villa Appalaccia is located near milepost 171 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Chateau Morrisette
Chateau Morrisette is a local winery that is a favorite visitor destination. Started in 1978 when the Morrisette family planted the first vines on the property, Chateau Morrisette has grown into a full scale winery offering wine tastings and complimentary tours seven days a week. Chateau Morrisette is located at milepost 171.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The Crooked Road Music Trail
Music has long and storied roots in the Blue Ridge community. The Crooked Road, celebrating the area’s unique history of “mountain music,” is a trail that winds through the mountains of Patrick County and southwestern Virginia. Venues along the trail feature the Bluegrass, Old Time and traditional Country music that has served as the soundtrack of the Blue Ridge Mountains for as long as anyone can remember.
